PostSubject: Walsh's Log   Wed Nov 04, 2009 2:15 pm

I have not posted in awhile partly because of being really busy and then also because I have not been training that consistantly. Rugby just got over and we had an ok season. I trained good throughout the first month of the season but started getting pretty banged up lifting heavy along with rugby. So for the last couple months I have just lifted for fun. Now I started back training for a couple different things.

A couple weeks ago my fiancee asked me to train with her and run a half marathon this spring. I agreed since alot of what I do does not include her. I am also getting ready for next rugby season, and I'm still looking for my next strongman show. I am shooting for a show next spring, most likely the March challenge or Jan if there is one.

My current program is incorporating alot of running along, and for the first month I will be using a gpp type format for all of the lifting sessions throughout the week. I will start training events on Saturdays, and hopefully I haven't lost too much since I haven't done events in almost 4 months.

Yesterday:
Mag Mobility
Twists- 2x15x45
Crunches- 2x15xbw
Squats- 17x385
Band Pull Aparts- 15xmini
RDL- 10x225
Strict Press- 10x135
Lunges- 10x135
Lat Pulldowns- 13x180
*Done as one continuous set with 60 sec between every set.

Today:
30 min on eliptical
Then later today I have 3 volleyball games for my work team at 9 tonight.

Happy to be back training seriously and posting here because I get alot better advice here than anywhere else.

Cool - don't overdo it first day back.

What are your bodyweight goals now that you're going to do that kind of running? Still planning to stay as heavy as possible, or thinking of using the running to cut down some?

Just curious. Seems like you carry 260+ really well... but running at that weight could be pretty rough on the knees and body.

My ideal weight is aroudn 255 so I will try to stay there.

Log Clean and Press
a bunch of singles and doubles working up to an easy 265 for 1

Axle Clean and Press
power cleans- one clean and 3 presses up to 265

Yoke
160'x540

So just got done running 3 miles and it sucked. Definately need to shed some lbs. Dont think 280 lb guys are meant to run long distance haha. I knew I was gonna have to lose weight so no shocker and it didnt feel as bad as I thought.
