Event day with a powerlifter guy I used to work with LogMy triceps were really sore from my chest workout on Monday so I didn't do much here. More for Bill's benefit. Worked up to 205 for a few singles. Farmers Hold220 * 15 secs 275 * 15 secs 310 * 15 secs - only had another 5+ secs in me Rolling Thunder Worked up to 130 in right, 120 in left StoneDid a couple loads with my 240. Really difficult. REALLY need to start working stones by Tony again. YokeAll for 60' 270 450 550 630 Last one wasn't as bad as I thought. Slow but doable. I'll have plenty of speed for the show in Montgomery in June.

Drove down by Tony's to work on the tire(s). Need some work. Took quite a few tries before I got the form back and was able to flip it in one motion without having to catch it.

was down by Tony's again today to break some records. Didn't break any. The only one I really tried for was the Keg toss for height. Craig has it with 16'...I tried for 16.5" a few times, but got the same results I didn't during that show. Close, but not enough. Did manage to set some of the grip records. Even managed to beat Dennis Craddock and two of the events I believe. From there did some flips of the tire, which got a whole lot easier this week. Showed the new guy Mark how to press the log. Held 260 on the farmers for a set. Loaded the 225 stone, but couldn't do the 260. Then went back to do some light farmers runs for conditioning.

Training has been pretty lame lately. Not only that, but I aggravated some tendonitis in my elbow not last week but the one before flipping the tire by Tonys. (last week I managed to flip it better). Don't look for big things at CSM. LogWorked up to a bunch of singles @ 225. Did them seperately, but continuously, until I couldn't clean it anymore. Maybe I got 7 or 8 over the course of a couple minutes. ONly looking for 3 or 4 at CSM. ENough for 8th place or so. Overhead lockoutsFrom forehead level Worked up to 225 for a few sets of doubles. Tried 235 and couldn't get it past a couple inches above my head. That's better than I've done in a ling time. Front raises3 sets of 8 with 25lbs, nothing special Band pull-aparts thrown in here and there.

Keith, So is everything just about where it was before your injury? Any nagging problems? I am glad to see a return from a major injury is possible. Shon

My wrist is completely healed, no issues there. I have slight tendonitus in both elbows, but it's very minor. The tire and too much pressing tend to aggravate it, but it goes away soon enough if I just slow down on both...that's unrelated to the car accident. For the most part I'm close enough to back to normal. The problem isn't injuries anymore, it's just life in general. Crappy work schedule, 3yr old daughter, Cardinal Fitness isn't the greatest to train at, and I don't really train any events at all until it starts to get warm out. So when I do get to train, I tend to do more stuff relevant to my next contest. But that means I haven't squatted in weeks. I start a new schedule at work on the 26th. That's going to force some big changes so I'll be back to training just about everyday.

Man, I had such high hopes for CSM at one time. Not anymore. Had to squeeze a quick workout in. Only had about 30 minutes. Sled Drag400 * 60ft for 2 sets: Easy enough 490 * 60ft for 2 sets: Not quite as easy, but finished strong in both directions 580 * 60ft: Didn't even budge it the first time I tried to pull it. Momentum died 3 different times. I would not have finished the event in a contest. As frustrating as that was, I'm not too worried. It's just because I haven't touched the sled in over a year. I'll have the chance to pull it another couple of times before the show. But next week, I'll finish the event.

I talked about this somewhere in this log... I know I'm not the strongest guy around, given my training setup and time constraints at the moment, and considering how often I compete, I don't look to finish on top too often. This Sept, however, is going to be a different story. THIS is the contest I'm going to step it up for. No deadlift, I'm a fan of all the events, and theres plenty of time after the ILSM to train for it. This will be the one that I shoot for the win. The only drawback is if I do well, I have to go to Nationals in early Oct, which will be probably be tough to manage. In case anyone cares...

Keith, I'd love to see that! Stubborness, strategy, and the right events pulling you from the middle to the top. Best of luck. Shon

Good luck this coming Saturday. I believe the September Challenge events fits you very well. The new work schedule you talked about may actually work into your favor. See you Saturday, Tony

Truck PullGot off to a slow start, but otherwise I pulled it pretty well. My legs have been sore the last couple of days so I was actually happy to get it moving. Did it in 28secs. Most of the 231s were in the 25-26 range I think, but there were a few higher than me. Maybe got 9th or 10th here. (Thought it was out of 12, Jason said 13 at the final standings so maybe someone snuck in at the last minute.) LogNot only were my legs really sore, but left bicep tendon/elbow have been sore the last few weeks from working on Tony's tire. When I tried for the 3rd rep I could already feel it starting to ache a little more, missed the rep, and just called it quits. There were a few No Lifts and single reps so I still got 8th or something there. TireThought for sure this was going to be too difficult for me with my legs and bicep sore, but I managed to do relatively well. Only 3 or 4 guys finished the 70' and Derek and I finished probably inches from each other so I got 5th or 6th on this one. Farmers300lbs was a little too heavy for most of us considering how slick the handles were. I finished with a big 3.7secs. I overheard Barkley say that his 2secs was good for 7th place, so I at least got 6th here. Keg/Sled MedleyI was pretty worried about the sled going into this one. I've only trained on the sled in the last couple weeks and did very poorly on it. I was happy that I finished, although it was only with 5secs or so left. It was a relatively slow time which ultimately cost me some placings. The order of the last event was the OVERALL order up to that point. That meant I was in 7th going into that event. When the scoring was done, Derek, Adam Thatcher and I had all tied for 7th, but I guess my poor placings earned me the lowest of the tie breaker so my official placing was 9th. Naturally, I'm going to tell everyone I tied for 7th out of 13th. Just sounds better. Next contest: May. Aside from the deadlift, I should do pretty well in the other events. I should be able to at least qualify for the Dec show, maybe even for Nationals depending on just how bad I do at the deadlift.

Tied for 7th, good job! looks like you had a solid day. Its got to feel good that despite getting 9th due to lower placing, you were strong in all events not blowing any. Shon
