PostSubject: Brian's Training Log   Sat Nov 01, 2008 10:46 am

I decided to start posting my log on here since I am pretty disappointed in Marunde. I love posting my log, but it just seems like Marunde is going down hill. Too many idiots on there and I never get any input so it is pointless. Today is my last rugby game and then starting Monday I have a quick prep for Kurt's show in MI. I have not prepped for it at all but it should be fun competing with spy. After that I will be working on my weaknesses with some different goals in mind.
1- help my team win nationals in rugby next spring
2- win lw nationals or pro card

I use a unique variation of a westside template for lifting and include alot of conditioning work now. This helps me for rugby but also keeps my weight down and helps me burn fat. Below is my general outline.

Mon
ME Upper Lift for 3-5
Vertical Upper Back
Tricep Variation
Horizontal Upper Back
Direct Ab Work

Tues
DE Lower Body- DL or Box Squats
Sprint Work

Wed
OFF

Thurs
ME Lower for 3-5- most odten will be deadlift variation
Walking Events- farmers, yoke, frame, around 60-70% of contest weight for technique and speed
Low Back Lift
Hamstring Lift
Prowler Conditioning

Fri
High Rep Upper Lift- some variation working shoulders or triceps
Vertical Back SS Horizontal Back
Tricep SS Bicep

Sat
Strongman Events with conditioning and technique focus
Medleys, Prowler, BB Complexes, Interval Running, etc.

Sun
OFF

The general idea is to work my upper back, strict press, and lower back. Until my strict press gets to a good level I will not be doing any push presses except for contests. My upper back is holding back my dedlift and other stuff so that needs to improve. We all know lower back is strongman so that needs to get up there too. There really won't be any heavy event training for awhile because I do not need it. It is better to strt lower and perfect technique first. Increase weight little bit every week and increase core strength in the gym. I know this is a long first post but I figured I would start with my general training concepts and goals before my first workout Monday. I look forward to any input.

great to see you posting here, Brian. I felt the same about Marunde. it was cool seeing some pro's post but I was getting no input. My log was basically me posting on my own log. I like posting here because I get input and talking with people that are friends.

Good luck at Kurt's and at the IL finals

Glad to have you. I know what you mean. I was posting on Mustseestrongman.com and towards the end, nobody ever showed up! well I think Barkley was the other one showing up. As for feed back I got a lot when I needed help getting deeper on my squat!
Hey whats the ME and the DE on your mondays/tuesdays mean? Only thing I can think of is Maine and Delaware!

Good to have you here Brian. I never really posted much on Marunde however it has seemed to go downhill somewhat.
At least here everyone pretty much knows everyone else.

Craig was spot on with ME and DE. I had my last rugby match today and we won which means we qualified for the Midwest Championships in the spring. I scored today and had 4 or runs of 40 yards or more. It was alot of fun but I am glad rugby is over in the fact that I can get back to training.

Craig, yes I am. I have learned so much about training since coming here. They are crazy strong. Today Matt pressed 405 pretty easily with no double dip. Pete's back is just incredible and he is still recovering from a bicep tear. The Bergmans have been down here a few times and Sam McMahon is here every now and then. Most of the time it is me, Pete, Matt, and Plale.

Squat
3x135,225,315,405,455,495

RDL
5x8x225

Band Leg Curls
2x15xpurple

Floor Press
8x135,185,225

Today was a crap day but I will chalk it up to lack of sleep, rest, and contest week. I did 495 easy with just belt but my form was off so Matt told me to stop and not risk injury until my form is better. My knees were just bowing in. I altered my training alot this week so I am rested for Saturday. I plan to do well there and in December but my main focus will be next summer. Summerfest will be a platinum plus and I can't think of a better way to become a pro than in front of thousands of people and my friends and family all being there.

yuck, yuck, and double yuck.

I am not looking at Brian's log for two days for fear of seeing crazy lactic acid producing things like this. I do not even want to think about doing something like this.

haha it is easy once you start because my mind just drifts and I listen to music. It has helped me be in incredible shape.

Today:

Lat Pulldowns
8x105,115,125,135,145,155,145,125

Single Arm DB Snatch
2x60
1x90
1x120
0x150-almost, got it to head
cleaned 150 and almost locked it out in press

Chin Grip Pulldowns
3x8x145

Face Pulls
3x15xpurple

Felt good today. I am not very prepared for this show but I think I will still do very well. Monday I am starting the anabolic diet and will be on that through mid December for sure. I am 255 right now and feel fast and in shape.
