Just got word this weekend that the sponsor for the ILSA Log Championships has backed out. No reason was given.
As of right now the ILSA Log Championships is cancelled.

One thought I had was to have the Log Championships for our grand opening of the new training facility later in the year.

How is the facility coming? Is there a date set?

No date set yet.
Looking into a 24 x 32 (768 sq ft) facility. Checked with Menards building kits and they seem to run between $5500 to $7500, depending on add-ons, etc... This price isn't for the foundation which I believe would run around the same price as the building.
Last year I contacted a few places and only one, Cleary Buildings, got back with me. But they wouldn't give me an approximate price.
I plan on trying again this week.

Check out these guys:

Pueblo Concrete
Yorkville, IL 60560
630-330-7580

Ask for Chuy (pronounced chewy). They do a great job (did our back patio and many of our neighbors') and have the best prices I've seen. They do garage slabs and foundations as well. Only question is how far they will travel for work. He should be able to give you an estimate if you let him know what you are looking for though.

Thanks for info. I'll have to see how far away they are.
I have read somewhere that there should be no more than 60 or so
minutes between the time the truck is loaded with the concrete to the time it's poured at the job site.

Well.......the Illinois Log Lift Championships are a go.....again.
The sponsor has gotten back with me and decided to go through with the demo.
If anyone is interested in participating please let me know. The date is July 4th around 1pm.

Well, if the sponsor doesn't change his mind again it's slated for July 4th, Watseka, IL at 1pm.
All wt classes, all divisions offered.

This is NOT a contest but a log demo (with benifits). Athletes will beeligible to post Illinois Records on the log press, Earn points towards the Series

and...

the heaviest wt lifted overhead that day earns $100.00

I'll be posting the entry on our contest page and here within the next couple of days. Entry is $10 I believe (pays for the shirts).

Dang, I would have loved to hop in this, Tony, but I signed up for that Milwaukee contest on the same weekend.

Well, the sponsor has pulled out yet again. This time due to insurance issues.

I still plan on having the ILSA Log Championships at our place in St. Anne on July 4th. Since the sponsor has pulled out there will be NO cash prizes for the top weight lifted overhead.
