PostSubject: 2010 Season   Fri Aug 21, 2009 10:22 pm

Have been working on the 2010 season for Illinois. Pretty much the same format as 09 in terms of the contests (January Challenge, March Challenge, May Challenge, ILSM, September Challenge and Illinois Hercules). Same format for the records and earning points towards the series, etc...

Some new items:
Possibly one or two silver meets geared more towards max events. The contest format for these are:
2 max events only
Scores are taken from total poundage, not points (similar to powerlifting)
Same wt classes: 200, 231, 235, 266+, open teen, open women.

Illinois Strongman/ Woman of the Year: Most likely will NOT do the shirt idea we did for 08'.
We'll most likely do something different for this years award winners.
The shirts went over like a lead balloon but was worth a shot.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them.

Tony,

Sorry about the shirts. Let me know how may of mine you have and I will try to get them sold. I was going to try to use them as a fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes, but that didn't really go over either.

Chris,

I believe we haven't sold any of the "official" signature shirts. We sold some of the boo-boo shirts fairly cheaply that had been screwed up by the vendor.
I'll have to check to make sure what sizes we have from each of the styles.
Pawel ordered around 12 extras of his shirt because he was confident he would be able to sell them. I just asked what I paid for them.
As for the "original" designs I may just give them to the 08' winners and they can do whatever they like with them.

I just want to make sure you aren't stuck with a bunch of mine. If you are, let me know and I will get them sold.

I have been working on two possible formats for the 2010 IL season.
One with the "new training facility" (if I am ever able to get with the companies to discuss costs) and.....
one with the Park Pavilion in St. Anne, which is a block from the house. I am waiting to here a reply from the St. Anne mayor.

Most likely the 2010 format will be a March thru October season mainly due to the weather. I am very grateful that my in-laws have allowed us to use their heated outbuilding however I do not wish to impose on them anymore.

Still haven't a heard a peep from the mayor. It's been a week. He must be very busy....St. Anne is huuuuge.

Or maybe the e-mail I sent him went into his spam folder.

I'll try again Tomorrow.

Mayor finally was able to return my message. He gave me a name and number of the St. Anne Chairman of the Parks (I thought there was only one park, hahaha). I plan on giving him a call tommorrow or Wednesday.

I was able to speak and meet with the local park chairman. He seemed all for the contests at the park and he informed me the board will be voting on the issue this Monday. He asked to call him Tuesday.

I have posted the tentative contests/ events for the 2010 season at www.ilstrongman.com

These are not set in stone and we will most likely be adding to the list.
I won't know for certian the dates for the ILSM or September Challenge till Febuary 2010.

They're not set in stone. Events may have to change.

I got word that the Village okay'd us to use their pavilion. I just need to contact the local youth group and coordinate the days they plan on using the pavilion ....then contact another guy to set up dates for next year.

I was able to talk with the head of the local Youth Group and we were able to coordinate some dates. Now I just need to get a hold of the guy that handles securing the Park Pavilion and see what dates work for them.

I am looking at March 27 for the March Challenge and possibly May 29 for the May Challenge however that weekend is Memorial Day weekend. Not sure if we should have a meet that day.
We did have a Illinois Record Breakers meet on Memorial Day weekend a few years ago and had a good turn out.

any chance that you'd be interested in doing promoting CSM since Bever is taking a break this year? I'd really like to compete in it
