Well, I have mentioned this before however I'll post it again..

This week I plan on meeting with Cleary, a company that deals with outbuildings. Hopefully, I'll be able to find out more info on just how much $$ it will cost to build the new training facility. Originally had thought about just building the place the myself however I want to find out what they'll charge first.

Once I find out what it will cost, I'll be able to figure out what sort of "rates" we'll have to charge ...

So i started doing the 10,5,3's like tony and I had discussed. So I took the percentages of my maxes to equal the reps I was going for example 85% of a max for 5 reps. Well what I noticed is I can only get 2-3 reps. Yet my max is much higher than what the estimation would come out to be. Example I squatted a 320 pause olympic squat. 270 should have been my max for 5 but I only got 2 reps. When it comes to 10's its even worse.

I think all of us got into lifting to get big and strong.

all of the contests will have some sort of OHP and all that matters is that you get the wt over head. (push press, jerk, whatever- just get it there)

I don't really feel jerks do much for upper body development for me, but I agree with Tony and others that for max weight that is the way to go for OHP.

do others follow this up with strict press, close grip bench, db military, etc.

Aquatic therapy is especially beneficial for people who have difficulty with weight bearing activities due to arthritis, recent fracture, sprains, or their weight. Exercising in the water provides several benefits that exercise on land can not.

I was reading some forum and there was this huge debate. 1 rep max is only true if you can actually do, or that calculators were close enough up to 6, some said to 10.
I have been doing deadlifts off a 2 inch platform with 50 pounds of chain. I went 455(bar weight) for a double last week and wanted to see what I could pull off the floor(I have a contest October 18th) I went 585 for 2 singles. I am going to stick with pulling off the platform with chains till the contest.

My wife has been training for a 1/2 marathon on 8/31/08 and has been experiencing some pain in her hip. The pain is on her left side and it runs from the top of her pelvic bone (where it meets the obliques) to the middle of her hip. It is now even painful to the touch. She has been icing it nightly and taking ibuprofen. Do you have any other ideas/thoughts as to what this might be and how to treat it?

Thanks!

I see people doing a lot of weight with close grip. I am just curious how close the grip is. 6 inches? 12 inches apart? I used to do 6 inches but it kind of hurt my wrists and shoulders so I stopped. my current normal bench is around 18 inches apart. I won't go wider, the sound of a shoulder ripping still gives me nightmares

Tony,

You are right on the back neglect! I do some rows and deadlifts and thats it. I think the Lat pull downs aggravated or caused my left bicep problem. I should maybe try the Row bar for pull downs.

The matrix is a program based on your one rep max. You go to the underlined 1rep max on the list below. Then you do the workout beneath it. first set is 8 reps, then 5, 3, 1, 1, 1 and 5 again. If you can get more than 1 on the last set of singles, do it. same with the last 5 set. Once you ...
